Gulu Girls

Gulu Girls Home – Gulu, Uganda

The Gulu Girls Home is a safe haven for 20 orphaned girls in the war-torn region of Gulu, Uganda.  The home has become a place of hope and happiness for the children who have been living on the streets and in IDP camps of Gulu.  Billy and Mara Hodes and their 8 children of Kansas City, Missouri, have committed to being Home Champions for the Gulu Girls Home.  They are very passionate about raising awareness, involvement and funding for the girls in this home.

In the words of Billy Hodes, Home Champion

HALO provides me the opportunity to be intimately involved in providing 20 girls a better chance to succeed in life.  These girls are given the chance to dream dreams, and the tools to accomplish them.  They exhibit great character in dealing with struggles they have faced in the past, and  incredible faith and hope in what the future holds for them.  HALO serves as a vehicle for me to make the world a better place, to help those that have no one else to help them.
