Ashirvad Orphanage – Tuni, India: This area was affected greatly by the tsunami in 2004. There are 45 fully supported children in this home. HALO provides staffing, shelter, education, and medical supplies for the children. HALO’s goal is to expand this home to allow more children to come in off the streets.
Lily of the Valley Orphanage – Tijuana, Mexico: This is the first orphanage HALO supported, and HALO has built a relationship with the children and staff of this home for 3 years. HALO provides the children of this home with tuition for education, school uniforms, and other supplies. HALO also funds projects such as a school room for 3- to 5-year-olds, staff to care for toddlers, and basic upkeep of the home. There are 90 to 110 children in this home at any given time. In fall 2007, HALO sent a team of volunteers, including a dentist, to provide general care for the children.
Timau Orphanage – Timau, Kenya: This home was established in January 2007 in the mountains of Kenya. Currently there are 26 very grateful boys who stay here. Almost every child has lost his parents to the AIDS epidemic.
HALO Homes Uganda – Kampala, Uganda: HALO currently provides funding for 5 homes in Kampala, Uganda for boys and girls who were once living on the streets. The mentors for these homes are very passionate about teaching the children life and leadership skills.
Land of Judah – Managua, Nicaragua: HALO provides care for over 50 children at this orphanage. HALO recently established an Educational Center that provides computer training and English classes for the children. The average income in Nicaragua is $2 per day. If the children become proficient in computer and English skills, they will be able to earn twice that amount as adults.
Tumaini Home – Children from Naibor and Isiolo, Kenya: Also hit by the AIDS epidemic, 30 children were sleeping on the floor of 3 mud huts until recently. HALO fully supports all the needs of the children in this home, providing beds, school fees, tuition, and funding for basic needs.
HALO Learning Center – Kansas City, Missouri: The center consists of 3 classrooms used to host classes and workshops for at-risk children in Kansas City and surrounding areas. HALO’s goal is to provide services, skills, and fun activities to youth who might not otherwise be given the opportunity. A variety of ongoing workshops and classes will be offered to children ages 5 to 17.
Niles Home for Children – Kansas City, Missouri: HALO has partnered with Niles Home for Children, which provides residential treatment, day treatment, and education services to over 150 children annually. Niles serves children ages 7 through 17 from eastern Kansas and across Missouri. HALO provides the youth of Niles Home with art therapy and educational and vocational workshops.
Samaritan House – Denver, Colorado: Samaritan House is a homeless shelter for at-risk families and children in downtown Denver. HALO provides weekly art therapy and other programs for 7- to 12-year-old children.
