Portland
HALO Portland
Halo Portland began in 2009 with a goal to raise the annual funds for the Bukesa Children’s Home in Kampala, Uganda. The home provides a healthy environment for children who were previously living on the streets. Beyond food, clothing, education, and medical attention, Bukesa incorporates art therapy, sports, music, community service, and mentorship into the kid’s daily lives. Check out the HALO Portland Blog.
To donate to the projects of the Portland branch, click here and enter “Bukesa Home” in the box labeled “in tribute to,” or mail a check the HALO Headquarters and write “Bukesa Home” in the memo of the check. Read more about the Bukesa Home here and also watch here.
Local Programs
As Halo Portland has grown, it has begun partnering with local organizations to provide art therapy and resources for children from impoverished circumstances in the Portland area.
If you are interested in learning more about art therapy sessions please contact dannanieto@haloworldwide.org
HALO Portland is also underway in its planning to open up a learning center, which will provide education resources, skills building workshops, apprenticeships and much more!
