Johnston Wells Celebrates 40-Year Anniversary with $40K in Pro-Bono for Denver Branch of The HALO Foundation. Thank you, JohnstonWells Public Relations!

The Birth of HALO Denver

HALO Denver director Nikki Cady came to HALO in 2008 with a mission to make a difference. At the time, the most urgent HALO need was to provide a home for girls living on the streets of Kampala, Uganda. Cady took this project on and started a HALO branch in Denver to raise awareness, involvement, and funding. Because of Cady’s desire to make a difference together with HALO Ambassadors in Denver, 15 girls have been living in an all-girls home in Kampala, Uganda since December 2008. Locally, HALO Denver has been providing weekly art mentoring programs at metro area homeless shelters for homeless youth between the ages of 6 and 16 years of age since March 2009. In September 2010, The HALO Center opened its doors in downtown Denver’s Five Points Community, offering after-school tutoring, mentoring, art therapy programs and a variety of physical and educational workshops to at-risk youth 6 to 16 years old..

HALO Center for Youth gets an Extreme Makeover

Concerts for Kids is a Denver based not-for-profit foundation that raises funds for and awareness of local children’s charities. This organization recently organized over 30 volunteers to attend Community Day at The HALO Center where they completed an incredible landscaping project for HALO kids. Their kind donation provided not only a wonderful yard and beautiful garden for HALO but also a basketball court. We are grateful for their partnership. Camp HALO a Success!

HALO Denver is pleased to announce the success of the first year of Camp HALO. This summer, we were able to work with 45 at risk Denver youth between the ages of 5 and 15 and provide them with a multitude of programs, many of which, these children had never previously been exposed to.
The children participated in activities including: swimming, tennis, guitar lessons, roller skating, etiquette and dance classes as well as a number of art programs.

Thanks to help from many generous supporters, HALO continues to advance its mission of providing enriching experiences, mentoring and a safe haven for Denver inner city youth.
