City Year Chicago
The City Year Chicago HALO Club was formed in 2011. City Year Chicago is a non-profit organization that unites young people ages 17-24 for a year of full-time service. They serve in Chicago Public Schools as tutors, mentors and role-models to 6th-9th graders. The City Year HALO Club is committed to educate our students about different cultures, lifestyles and global issues. By expanding their worldviews, the club allows participants the opportunity to understand the world outside of their community. By giving them the tools to make a difference in the lives of other(s), the club also helps them to attain skills and perspectives that will change their lives as well.
.
The City Year Chicago HALO Club hosts a workshops for students in Chicago Public Schools, focused on the Naibor Home in Naibor, Kenya. Through this process they will learn about Kenyan culture, the children living in the home, and will be planning their own event to raise funds and awareness.
