HALO was born in 2004 and became a 501(c)(3) organization in 2005.
Where are the HALO-supported orphanages?
We currently work in 6 countries: Mexico, Nicaragua, India, Kenya, Uganda, and residential homes in the United States. HALO has recently opened learning centers for at-risk and foster care youth in Kansas City, Missouri and Denver, Colorado.
How does HALO select orphanages to support?
HALO orphanages go through a detailed application process and are managed by HALO International Ambassadors who serve overseas for two years to ensure that the educational, artistic, and basic needs of the children are being met. HALO has committed relationships with partners who have been serving in their communities for decades.

How do you assure that funding gets to the homes?
Our international policies include an in-depth application process and multiple site visits. Our International Ambassadors serve a minimum of two years in the countries we support. These volunteers oversee our programs and the distributions of funds. We also partner with organizations who have long-standing positive reputations and commitments to the communities we serve.
How much of the funding is spent on the children?
HALO is proud to be an 80/20 organization, in which more than 80% of our funding goes directly to the programs we support.
